Woyzeck
Oracle company member Max Truax directs WOYZECK by Georg Buchner. The original text was left unfinished when the prodigy playwright died at 23, and Buchner’s groundbreaking work has influenced generations of theatre artists, filmmakers, and opera composers. Loosely based on a true story, this ‘proletariat tragedy’ tells the story of WOYZECK, a lowly soldier who murders his wife in a fit of jealousy. Buchner’s deft and still-relevant commentary on poverty, psychological duress, religious piety, and military corruption are perfectly matched for Oracle’s deviant styling.
