The Alluvium Group has teamed up with Oracle B*Sides to present the world premiere Happiness: The Pursuit and Other Tragedies.
This musical parable is brought to life by seven performers and a live band. Happiness tells the tale of Proteus, an everyman, who journeys through a fantastical and dangerous dream world in search of everlasting happiness. Original music composed by James Manno. Happiness is directed by Tony Santiago, and the cast will also work with Janet B. Rodgers.

The Alluvium Group is a collective of Chicago-based artists dedicated to the creation of independently produced theatre. By presenting a wide variety of work under one banner, Alluvium aims to increase the opportunities of independent artists, expanding awareness and encouraging the production of work that takes the road less traveled.
James Manno (playwright, composer) can be seen at Oracle in Tonight It’s Live with Tom Bambara as the house band leader. Manno is also the co-founder of the group, Awesomonster, which tours the comedy sketch game show called “The Game Show of Hell”.
Tony Santiago (director), is a founding member of the Alluvium Group. He works as a teaching artist alongside About Face’s educational and outreach program providing social justice education in CPS. Chicago acting credits include, Rent! (American Theatre Company) and The History Boys (Timeline).
Janet B. Rodgers (featured collaborator) has been deeply involved in theatre as director, actress, producer and teacher since the late 1960s. Janet B. Rodgers spent twenty four years as Head of Voice and Speech Training at Virginia Commonwealth University. During this time she was also a Fulbright Scholar to Romania. Artistic Director of Fluxus Ha! Theatre Company in Richmond and author of two books, the most recent one, Acting and Singing with Archetypes.
