Oracle B*Sides is proud to present a second limited Chicago run of OBSCURA by acclaimed magician Christian Cagigal. In his performance style, Cagigal performs teeny-tiny tricks and projects them onto a large screen for a live-magic experience that’s one of a kind.
Here’s a sneak peek at what you’ll see:
Join magician Christian Cagigal as he weaves fairy tales, dark fables and strange happenings into an intimate evening fraught with wonder, mystery and imagination. Cagigal has been regaling diverse audiences with his unique hybrid of theatre and “slightly creepy” magic for years at San Francisco’s renowned EXIT Theatre. With OBSCURA, Cagigal returns to his roots as an up-close entertainer, melding his favorite short stories with card magic and mentalism. All the magic is performed under the eagle eye of a camera! You’ll see every one of Christian’s moves projected large above him so you can’t miss a single thing.

About Christian Cagigal
Recipient of a 2013 Mastermind Award from the SF Weekly and voted Best of the Bay twice by the San Francisco Bay Guardian, Christian Cagigal has been creating and performing his unique brand of storytelling, magic and theatre as an Artist in Residence at San Francisco’s EXIT Theatre, since 2006, and as a Company Artist with Montréal’s Beyond the Mountain since 2012. Later this summer, Beyond the Mountain will be producing OBSCURA at Gryphon Venues in Scotland as part of the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
His original work includes THE 13 STEPS, the popular THE PANDORA EXPERIMENT, the long running OBSCURA, the secretive happenings of THE COLLECTION which ran for a marathon of 13 straight nights of shows, and the critically acclaimed NOW AND AT THE HOUR (which has been produced in New York, Montréal, Chicago, Berkeley and San Francisco). His shows have played to sold out houses and extended runs. He’s currently working on the performance film of NOW AND AT THE HOUR directed by internationally recognized San Francisco filmmaker H.P. Mendoza, due out this Fall.
Christian has consulted for A.C.T.’s MFA program, Crowded Fire Theatre Company, The Traveling Jewish Theatre Company, Marin Shakespeare Company, EXIT Theatre and The San Francisco Ghost Hunt Walking Tour. Christian can also be seen displaying his comic-acting-chops in the indie movie, power pop, musical Fruit Fly written and directed by H.P. Mendoza.
