“Free art and free beer are not really free and the beautiful people of Oracle are tirelessly donating their incredible talent to mankind. They shouldn’t be alone on this ambitious mission!”

Oracle Productions*: What do you do when you’re not seeing and supporting theatre?

Ziggy Malecki: I like to think about impending doom. It never ceases to amaze me that my species elect to behave in such an aggressive way bringing so much suffering upon everybody. Really, the final outcome is known – just be nice! As I age, I value kindness more and more.

O*: What is your passion?

Z: Bringing happiness to my family and friends, avant-garde theatre (TRAP DOOR THEATRE!!!), food, traveling (especially staying in one place for at least a couple of weeks, if I can).

O*: Which Oracle shows have been your favorites?

Z: The Sandman (it amazed, entertained and confused me to no end)
Pink Milk (so fresh, so artistically amazing, socially important and so much young talent)
The Maids, The Mother (perfection in everything)
Accidental Death of an Anarchist, The President and Romulus (bringing joy, smiles and laughter is extremely important function of art)

O*: Is there a favorite Oracle moment you would like to share?

Z: First time I walked into Oracle I was handed a (free) beer; what took me so long to find you?

O*: Why is art for all important to you?

Z: It takes mind off impending doom and everybody deserves a break from the mundane.

O*: What made you decide to become a member of The Forty 4?

Z: One night I was I watching a big budget show with my family. It made me think about the end of culture. The money we spent would be enough to vaccinate all the children in a small size developing country. The next night I saw a free and awesome Oracle show. Free art and free beer are not really free and the beautiful people of Oracle are tirelessly donating their incredible talent to mankind. They shouldn’t be alone on this ambitious mission! By becoming a member of The Forty 4, I am fortunate enough to be able to help perpetuate Oracle’s beautiful delusions for my fellow species mates. I had no choice, if I wanted to live without constant guilt.

O*: Would you encourage others to join The Forty 4? If so what would you say?

Z: See a show and if you like it (you will!) don’t be a freeloader (if you can help it)!

O*: What does your ideal weekend entail?

Z: Being 27-29, woken up by an inappropriately early phone call from the Nobel Committee, having a wholesome breakfast with my smiling wife and grateful kids, going for a run to keep my perfect physique while being greeted by my fellow joggers with friendly hand waves. Tending to my organic vegetable garden, while playing with my favorite pygmy goats. (I need more time to think what to do after 7 a.m.).

O*: If you couldn’t spend a dime, what would you do for fun on a day off?

Z: I’m perfectly fine with doing nothing. There are so many interesting people to talk to, so many beautiful places to go (Parks, Lake), libraries… Doing something for unselfish motives is always a great possibility

O*: Tell us what you love about Chicago.

Z: Great mix of a big city advantages without NY crazy rush, plethora of awesome art offerings for every taste, all of the unique neighborhoods. And weather – everybody loves Chicago weather!

O*:· Members of The Forty 4 are our heroes. If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

Z: Flying!!! I’m not good with handling conflicts and usually choose to leave. Flying would help a lot.

I take it back; I want a super power to have any superpower I want!

O*: What is your favorite quote, motto, or piece of life advice?

Z: Just show up, enjoy and be kind.

Thank you to Ziggy, and all members of The Forty 4! Your generosity is priceless!
